(12-09-2020, Shanghai) On December 8, 2020, Sina Finance held the “2020 Golden Kirin Forum – ESG Summit” and the 2020 awarding ceremony of China ESG Golden Awards for Chinese companies at Sina Headquarters in Beijing. The Golden Awards, meaning “ responsibility is as precious and valuable as gold” in Chinese, aim to give credit to companies and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to China's ESG development.

ESG— environmental, social and governance— have been regarded as an investment and corporate evaluation criteria that focus more on environmental, social and governance performance than financial performance. ESG factors are increasingly incorporated by global investment institutions into the process to evaluate their investment behaviour and the target companies’ efforts in promoting sustainable economic development and fulfilling social responsibility.

China ESG Golden Awards 2020, in line with the principles of openness, fairness, professionalism and transparency, is an award organized by Sina Finance in partnership with industry leaders, experts and scholars. The professional ESG rating database offers a candidate list of companies and organizations with outstanding ESG performance, and the organizer finalizes the list of winners by taking into consideration overall ESG performance, scores from the judging committee and online voting, with a weighting of 6:2:2 respectively.

USI is fully aware of its social responsibility outside of making profits for shareholders and investors. On the basis of regulations and ethics compliance, USI has been committed to improving sustainability practice in corporate governance, environmental protection, social engagement and labour rights, pursuing economic, social and environmental co-existence and co-prosperity. USI’s efforts were recognized by experts and the public, and the company stood out from the shortlist of well-known Chinese listed companies and won the “ Sustainable Development Award” and “ Corporate Social Responsibility Award&rdquo. USI was invited to participate in the “2020 Golden Kirin Forum – ESG Summit” as well as the award ceremony. In this year’s Golden Award, only 5 companies were awarded two prizes, including USI, BYD, CGN, CRSC, and LONGi Group. Previously in September 2020, following MSCI's upward revision of its ESG rating to BB, USI received the Sustainability Award at the 2020 SGS CSR Awards.
