(2017/09/25, Shanghai) Together with the EMBA Alumni Association of Peking University HSBC Business School, USI Electronics (Shenzhen), a subsidiary of USI (SSE: 601231), a leading global company in the electronic design industry, held the "Hope for Pearl" Charity Concert at the auditorium of the Shenzhen campus of Peking University, where compassionate performers from different communities were invited to give amazing music performances. 

At Electronics (Shenzhen), a group of employees passionate about choruses formed a choir and practiced singing during their spare time. They have won multiple awards and prizes such as the Silver Prize of the Shenzhen Chorus Competition, and the Second Prize of the "Songs of Enterprises" Chorus Competition. At the "Hope for Pearl" Charity Concert, the choir used their beautiful songs to unite social forces to support students in need to continue further studies. Besides, the company was responsible for the preparations and execution of the event to ensure a great success of the concert.

In the evening, the concert was attended by guests including Mr. Wang Jianxuan, sponsor of the "Hope for Pearl" program, Mr. Han Wangxi, deputy head of the Propaganda Department of Shenzhen, and excellent alumni from Peking University HSBC Business School. Mr. Wang Jianxuan is a famous politician and philanthropist in Taiwan. He launched the "Hope for Pearl" program in 2004, and each cumulative contribution of RMB 7,500 yuan can help a poverty-stricken student to return to high school and complete studies. 

At the evening event, Mr. Wang said, "Thank you for helping those excellent yet impoverished children. Heaven is where love is. Now, we see heaven on earth.”Mr. Han Wangxi, deputy head of the Propaganda Department of Shenzhen, said in his speech, "A mountain with jade is lush and green, and a deep pool that produces pearls gives vitality to an otherwise barren cliff. Pearls, once retrieved, can shine its beautiful lustre again and benefit the world. I would like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude for the "Hope for Pearl" program." An Ran, a representative of the alumni of Peking University HSBC Business School, said, "We would have been strangers but for this concert. We are united by love, and we would like to pass on our unselfish love. Success is not about how many people you have defeated; rather, it's about how many people you have helped. Your value lies in other people's needs.”

The event raised a total amount of RMB 2,331,720.5 yuan, which will be used for the “Hope for Pearl” charity program aimed for sponsoring the education of students in distress and is expected to fund 311 impoverished students with outstanding academic performance through three years of high-school education before they become university students.

About the "Hope for Pearl" Program
In many places in China, many secondary school graduates with outstanding academic performance cannot afford expensive high school tuition and thus have to discontinue their studies as the nine-year compulsory education program only covers schooling from primary education to secondary education. Those students, forced to give up high-school education because of their destitute family background, are like pearls losing lustre. To help students with academic excellence yet from needy families to complete high-school education and become university students, Mr. Wang Jianxuan, a famous politician and philanthropist in Taiwan and founder of Zhejiang Xinhua Compassion Education Foundation (XHEF), launched the “Hope for Pearl” program in 2004. Since then, the number of students funded and the number of schools in partnership with the foundation has been on the increase. By September, 2016, the number of students funded by the program increased from 21 at the very beginning to 48,659, and the number of schools in cooperation with the program has increased from one to a total of 163 schools across China.
