(2017-6-12 Shanghai) The awards ceremony of the 35th Chinese Literary Prize for Global Youth was held at Mingdao High School on June 11, and 45 entries from Taiwan, mainland China, Singapore and Malaysia become final winners out of nearly 2,000 works contributed internationally. Universal Global Scientific Industrial, a subsidiary of USI (SSE: 601231), a giant electronics designer and manufacturer in the world, has sponsored the Prize organized by Mingdao High School for ten years, and has awarded and celebrated approximately 522 literary talents. Through its long-term cooperation with Mingdao Literature and Art of Mingdao High School to organize the Chinese Literary Prize for Global Youth, USI hopes to encourage students interested in writing Chinese literary works, stimulate sources of inspiration, and nurture future writers.

The Chinese Literary Prize for Global Youth is designed for middle and high school students using Chinese around the world. The topics of the entries cover a wide range, including body writing, family ties, growth, romantic love, friendship, food, farming, history, culture, thoughts on life and death, and sports. They provide insights into how young students in different parts of the world observe, reflect on and care about different circumstances. The preparation unit, Mingdao Literature and Art, said that the Chinese Literary Prize for Global Youth received a total of 1,879 works, including 935 from Taiwan and 944 from overseas countries. With nearly 2,000 entries contending for 45 literary awards and twice as many as those of last year, the competition was fierce, and award winners were students from Taiwan, mainland China, Malaysia and Singapore.

The organizer, Mingdao High School, said, "Our former principal, Mr. Guangping Wang, founded Mingdao Literature and Art and created the Chinese Literary Prize for National Youth. However, far-sightedness is far from enough. Sustained success requires enormous persistence and perseverance. 35 years ago, when Mingdao was working hard to secure its foothold, Guangping Wang led Xianren Chen, founding director of the magazine, to resolutely hold the flag of literature to showcase the best possible works of literature created by students in Taiwan. Later, with full support of Principal Dajiu Wang, the National Students' Literature Awards were expanded and changed into the Chinese Literary Prize for Global Youth. He led the literature team to inherit and promote the founding members' spirits and keep innovating. We would like to thank Universal Global Scientific Industrial for its generous funding, our team of judges, work personnel and all young writers around the world for their enthusiastic participation. We hope that writers can use their writing to convey what they feel and think bravely express observations of the society and environment and write about touching stories that can be around for centuries."

Brian Shi, senior vice president of Universal Global Scientific Industrial, addressed the awards ceremony, "Universal Global Scientific Industrial has spared no effort in the field of social welfare. 10 years ago, we were introduced to the Mingdao Literature Awards by chance, which are now known as the Chinese Literary Prize for Global Youth, and started sponsorship. As long as the awards continue, our sponsorship will continue. What's more, students will graduate one day, but writing is not just for students. The awards can serve as a spare of fire that can kindle students' continued interest in writing, and have a great influence on the social atmosphere and the spiritual growth of the nation and even the whole world. This is all I want to share with you."

Subject to writers' choices, the award-winning works may be kept at the National Library of Public Information to ensure permanent preservation of writings by emerging writers of Chinese works.
