USI Participated in Bookstart Broadening Students’ Horizons
(2018-09-29) "Let's start child's learning with good books!" USI TW, a subsidiary of Universal Scientific Industrial (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE: 601231) which is a global giant electronics designer and manufacturer, was invited to attend the "Bookstart –National Primary and Secondary School Freshmen Reading Promotion Program" organized by Nantou County Government in coordination with the Ministry of Education. On September 13th, the press conference and donation ceremony "Government and Non-Government Cooperation Book Donation" were held at Shuili Elementary School in Nantou County. USI TW has donated books for 13 consecutive years, involving in corporate social responsibility with practical actions and doing its best for the local education environment.
USI has cooperated with the Taiwan Reading Culture Foundation for many years. This year, it has deepened the cooperation with the Foundation and sponsored the Nantou County National Primary and Secondary School Freshmen Reading Promotion Program of the Ministry of Education. Each of the freshmen in primary and secondary schools in Nantou County was given a reading gift bag from school, which included a quality age-appropriate book and a parent-child reading instruction manual. It is hoped that reading education will broaden students' horizons.
Since 2005, USI has sponsored the Taiwan Reading Culture Foundation to establish a "Philanthropic Library" and led Nantou County to become the first county in the country to achieve "One philanthropic library in one township". Every year USI also cooperated with the Foundation to hold "Reading and Learning" and "Parent-Child Reading" activities, investing in local education, enhancing the internal reading atmosphere of the company and sparing no efforts in promoting reading.
On the same day, Nantou County Magistrate Lin Ming Zhen said, "Thanks USI for the multi-year sponsorship, and their cooperation with the government to create a reading environment in the county. I hope to use this to attract more companies or individuals to join the donation." He also emphasized that reading can enrich life as well as open the window and vision of children and teenagers to the world, which helps to improve cognitive, language, understanding and reasoning skills.
USI has been engaged in the establishment of Philanthropic Library for 13 years. Besides Nantou, we also reached Lanyu and Lüdao and supported the Nantou County Government in conducting the "Bookstart – National Primary and Secondary School Freshmen Reading Promotion Program" of the Ministry of Education. Knowledge is an intangible asset and "reading" is the most worthwhile investment for children. Enterprises can donate money and materials, and the establishment of reading habits must work together through the parents, school and social community. It is hoped that the efforts of all parties can bring a better reading atmosphere to the next generation.
