USI Donates VND 100 Million in Aid to Cope with Floods
(2020-10-29 Shanghai) In early October, following weeks of heavy rains in central Vietnam, the country was devastated by the most severe floods in three decades. On October 23, Hai Phong Municiple Party Committee held a meeting with relevant units including firms in Hai Phong, and initiated donations to help the flood-stricken people in central areas. USI Vietnam, located in Deep C Industrial Zone, Hai An District, Haiphong City, participated in this disaster relief activity and has donated 100 million VND to the People’s Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front in Haiphong to help the people with the post-disaster reconstruction.
The floods spread across the central region of Vietnam. The hard-hit areas include Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Hue in the central north, and Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu An River and Da Nang in the central south. According to media reports, the floods submerged thousands of hectares of crops and caused deaths of hundreds of thousands of livestock and poultry. In addition, many highways were severely damaged and some roads were cut off due to landslides.
Nearly 130 companies took part in the donations for disaster relief. In addition to USI, large companies such as LG Group, Vingroup, Sun Group, Red Star Holdings, AmTRAN, CHILISIN, and Lite-On Technology also gave a helping hand in time.
Natural disasters triggered by climate change have occurred across the world. No matter as a country, a firm or an individual, we should pay attention to this issue, put forward an environmental sustainability plan, and contribute to the development of high-quality and sustainable living space.
