USI Included in S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for the Second Consecutive Year

(2023-02-10, Shanghai) USI is pleased to announce that it has been included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for the second consecutive year. With a score of 80 in the 2022 Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), USI was additionally rated as one of the top 10% in the Electronic Equipment, Instruments & Components industry group.

As of February 7, the selection of companies in The Sustainability Yearbook 2023 is based on the 2022 CSA that assessed over 7,800 companies across 61 industries. The Yearbook distinguishes the best-performing companies among industry peers.

USI received the industry best in 9 of the 24 criteria assessed: Materiality, Policy Influence, Innovation Management, Environmental Reporting, Environmental Policy & Management Systems, Social Reporting, Labor Practice Indicators, Corporate Citizenship & Philanthropy, and Privacy Protection. Additionally, we received full marks in five criteria: Materiality, Policy Influence, Innovation Management, Environmental Reporting, and Social Reporting.

Even with the continued challenges of the pandemic, material shortages, and supply chain disruptions, USI effectively managed these risks with steady operational strategies, generating a 23.93% annual revenue growth rate for all stakeholders. Furthermore, focusing on social resilience and sustainable development, we encourage employees to volunteer in educational, community, environmental, or cultural activities and extend our positive influence.
To promote social cohesion, we sponsored Shanghai-Taipei Twin Cities Cup Professional Go Tournament to encourage cross-strait youth interaction through chess. Also, we continuously support rural educational programs such as the “Hope for Pearls Project” and “Rural Digital Education Program” to bridge the urban-rural resources gap. We are long-term sponsors in the “Million Trees Project” that mitigates desertification and restores biodiversity. Additionally, we participate in the “International Coastal Cleanup” to protect ocean ecology.

USI initiates various climate actions as part of our Low Carbon sustainability strategy. We use the framework of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) to identify short-, medium-, and long-term climate risks and opportunities and steer our greenhouse gas reduction policy. Presently, we use 80.3% renewable energy across all our global manufacturing sites and plan to reach 100% renewable energy use in all manufacturing sites by 2035 to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

We will continue to focus our sustainability efforts on implementing our ESG strategies. Environmentally, we will increase our resource efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to address climate change and reduce our environmental impact. Socially, we engage our employees by developing their talents and encouraging social participation to extend our influence and achieve global partnerships. We protect investor rights, strengthen operational risk management, and reinforce cybersecurity management to optimize corporate governance.
