USI joined LoRa Alliance and will launch the smallest module of the world within LoRaWANTM certificate
(2017/02/09) USI had been work with Broadcom for the IoT module base on WiFi/BT technology since 2011. In order to have full coverage to support IoT especially for long range and low power consumption applications and believe that LoRa technology could 100% meet those requirements, USI has become the member of LoRa Alliance in November 2016.
The LoRa Alliance has been operated since March 2015 and focus on LoRaWAN™ technology which can be applied to IoT and M2M. The current applications can be found in the field of smart city and smart industry. The Lora alliance has over 190 members already and the industrial coverage includes Telecom operators, equipment manufacturers, system integrators, sensor manufacturers and semiconductors etc. Technology leaders such as IBM, Cisco, HP, Foxconn, Semtech and Sagemcom are its members.
After becoming the member of LoRa Alliance, USI is going to launch two products to support LoRaWAN™. The first one, WM-SG-SM-42, will be in mass production from 2017/Q1. The WM-SG-SM-42 module has been certified by FCC/CE and LoRaWAN™ and targeting on EU/US market first. The second module will be the smallest LoRa module in the world. It will support LoRaWAN™ as well and will have sample for customer evaluation by 2017/Q2.
LoRaWAN is a Low Power Wide Area Network with features that support low-cost, mobile, geolocation, and secure bi-directional communication for Internet of Things (IoT), The LoRaWAN provides interoperability and compliance of network infrastructure, components and offerings according to national frequency regulations and the Alliance specification.
